Hi, I’m going to try and start blogging more day-in-the-life style. Instead of waiting two weeks to share photos, I want to hop on at the end of the day a few times a week and share in the moment, just like the good ole days of blogging. This will help keep the blogs frequent, and they’ll take less time to edit and write. Sometimes, sharing photos is my favorite thing to do, and you don’t need a ton of paragraphs to make it worthwhile. Yesterday, Bugs and I headed out to visit my parents on the farm. They have a neighbor with the cutest goats and chickens they care for when she’s away. I decided to drive there and bring Bugs to see the farm animals since he loves animals! He reaches out for them and is so fearless. First off, look how stunning this tree branch arbor is! I will make sure to go back and get photos of the roses when they are in bloom. Of course, we had to bring the little blue car he is OBSESSED with! It was so cute because the chickens greeted him at the gate, and he started babbling to them. I know parents think their kids do the funniest things, but he is hilarious and loves getting reactions from us. The sweetest goat mamas! They will have their babies next month, and I can’t wait to hold them! They are so adorable and gentle. They followed us around the entire time and just wanted rubs.
The prettiest chickens! He’s going to be one next month! HOW!! I started planning his SUPER SMALL birthday celebration. I’m just making him a cute cake, going to attempt a balloon arch, and making a fresh lunch for the family. I will share all of the DIY after his party. I know first birthdays are a big deal, but I’m keeping it low-key, and I’ll try not to cry! This goat was wild! He’s the dominant male with a ton of energy. He jumped up behind me and ate a big chunk of my hair, but at least it gave my dad a good laugh.
My ten-year goal is to have a house in the country with a chicken coop! I’d probably have a few chickens if our HOA allowed it now.
He’ll be running after all of them when he’s on the move. Before heading home, I got the coffee and a grand tour of my parent’s new backyard garden. They expand it every year; this year, it’s bigger than ever! I’ll share photos when everything starts to bloom in a few weeks. And the best part is coming home with three dozen fresh eggs! Time to make some vegetable quiche tonight!

He is so obsessed! We have to go out on a car walk as soon as he wakes up! lol
Ahhh he loves it!

Taralynn! I love ALL of this. The easy-going blogging style is my favorite. And we have the same ten year goal! We just got 4 chickens, they are really fun and my kids pick them up and play nicely with them. I didn’t know your parents were living the farm life, it looks gorgeous.
Also I just have to say I have been reading your blog since the US days and it is so wonderful to see your journey. And I really love that we have so many shared interests (Peloton, sourdough, FARMS) it’s just fun to see all these things I love too in your posts. Thanks for always sharing. 💕

Thank you, Abbey!!
OH MY how fun is that!! Love that your kids are fearless with the chickens. My parents take care of their neighbor’s farm when they are away 🙂
Sounds like we have the same 10 year plan!! 🙂

Yeah we do! We have a 1/2 acre yard so my goal is to make it as much of a farm as I can! Chickens and a garden for now and I hope to make it so that most of our family’s food is from our home garden!

I had no idea your parents had a farm! That’s so cool

Hi, V! They take care of their neighbors farm when they are away 🙂

Hi Taralynn,
I kept scrolling up and down looking for the three questions like it’s my homework…that’s the teacher in me!!
I have an inner farm girl that wants the same thing! just leave me alone at my home with lots of dirt and some chickens, please and thank you. I’m guilty of binging ALL the tiktoks!
It’s so bittersweet watching our children grow. My daughter turned four in December and my son will be two in July. My mama heart isn’t ready. He is starting to speak in barely understandable sentences and she is getting sassier by the day. Their personalities are really shining lately!
I’m jealous of all those eggs. They are SO expensive in stores right now…it’s so ridiculous.
I hope you and your family have a Happy Easter! As always, looking forward to the next post 💕
Taralynn McNitt says
OH NO!!! lol Taking this as a reminder to never forget to ask my three questions!!!
OMG you and me both, girl. I bet we have the same algorithm lol
Time goes so fast, doesn’t it? 🙁 It is so fun seeing Bugs personality, and boy is he wild! lol
Ugh the egg prices are INSANE!!! hope everything goes down soon!
Have an amazing easter!!

I do have to say though (even without “my” questions haha) I enjoy this casual format too. Just a quick glimpse into the life of my favorite blogger. I gotta admit, you are so inspirational and motivating. You make me want to try my hand at sourdough and I am ALSO starting a raised garden project this year per my husbands request. It’s not too bad for me to maintain since I am a teacher so I will be off for the summer anyway and I can focus my energy on it while the kiddos nap or play in the yard!

I really like this format! 🙂

You’re the only blog I check daily. I love your content and the way you can elevate your experiences/food/ everyday tasks that can become very mundane if you let it. We live on a small acreage with chickens and horses, hopefully some mini cows someday but my 16 month old boy loooooves to go see the animals and throw the chicken some treats. now he thinks he has to throw the cats food, the dogs food and the horses food. lol He already likes to throw his own food so nothing new there. ps, i now want to build a tree branch arbor. I’d love to see it with the roses in bloom. 😍
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Cayleigh!
Thank you so much! That is so sweet!
My son throws his food to Leo like that already lol I can’t imagine what he would be like with chickens!
I’ll sneak a picture when they’re in bloom!

Gosh, farm animals + a little babe – so cute! And don’t worry about crying on that first birthday <3 Experience all the emotion and take it in, however you're feeling it. That sweet little boy made you a mama, so birthday's (especially a 1st birthday) are incredibly meaningful 🙂 Sounds like such a special day you have planned!!
