I’d be lying if I said I was excited about the move right now. I thought you all were joking when you said it was going to be stressful, but it’s now making sense. When I bought my current place, it was a smooth move, and everything went perfectly. These past few weeks have been pretty hectic, and the timing of it all with everything going on in the world has made it even more difficult. I’m going to have a blog post explaining more about what’s going on right now after we move in (i don’t want to speak too soon.) Once we get moved in, and things start to calm down a bit, I may be able to be more helpful when it comes to dealing with the stress or giving you all comfort in knowing that it’s temporary, (in case you’re going through the same thing.) Right now, we’re in the middle of this high-anxiety time, so bear with me for the moment. I do think it’s important for me to share the raw process you don’t usually get to read about when it comes to this. I know once things get resolved, and we move into the house, I’ll feel a bit better, but right now, I’m going a bit nuts.
We are supposed to close on the new house this Friday at 11 am. That is insane with the amount of work that is left to do on the house, again I’ll explain more of the hiccups later (hoping it gets resolved first!) I didn’t get to blog much this week because I had a lot going on and was running all over the place, or working on backend work with the blog. The best parts of my week have been sitting on the porch with my coffee to decompress and try to start the day on a good note. Most mornings, I had gluten-free toast with vegan butter and jam, and most of my meals were grab and eat at the countertops. I managed to grab a few photos of things going on this week, but I promise next Monday’s recap blog will be much better. It’s a moving blog, my favorite. 😊
I’ve also been playing the eat everything in the fridge, even if it’s not appetizing because we don’t want to transfer a ton of groceries to the new house. Plus, our fridge won’t be delivered up to a week after we move in. Frozen fruit smoothies have been a delicious go-to for lunch along with avocado toast! I use frozen bananas, almond milk, vanilla protein powder, and top it with granola and coconut.
My dinner salads have been pretty tasty! I’ve had romaine lettuce with sprouts, roasted potatoes, sunflower seeds, hard-boiled eggs, avocado, and cashew garlic dip for the dressing.
The pups have helped with my stress levels. I love my boys so much! Honestly, whenever I feel bad, they always shave a way of making me feel calm and happy. Dogs are the best.
I had a salad and headed to bed early on Thursday night. I had to drop the dogs off at my parent’s house because we had a home appraisal for the current house, and everything had to be clean, and the house had to be empty. Kyle and I had our blue tap walkthrough in the morning, and we knew it would be at least five hours.
We were wrong. The walkthrough was eight hours. Again, I’ll explain everything about this day once we close🤞 ps, this will be the last time you see that red door. It’s getting painted along with the garage door.
Friday was one of the most stressful and draining days.
When stress and adrenaline are high, your body wants just to shut down. When we got home, I had a slice of toast, sat on the couch, and fell asleep for about two hours. I’m not a napper, so it’s rare for me to nap like that out of the blue.
We picked up sushi for dinner at one of my favorite spots, Akahana, and then I went straight to bed!
The weekend was filled with movies, blogging recipes, and making phone calls to set up things for the move. This is when I miss being able to go into stores to purchase things.
I prepped some turkey burgers, roasted potatoes, and grilled chicken for the weekend, and that’s what we ate off of. My breakfasts consisted of toast, maple chicken sausage, and hard-boiled eggs.
Before tackling my closet cleanout, I had one of my favorite smoothie combos. It had frozen raspberries, pineapples, mango, water, vanilla protein, and a tablespoon of almond butter.
Last week was such a blur, and I have a feeling this week will go by even faster. Since it’s Monday, I’m going to try to stay positive and get out for more walks to help with my stress and anxiety. I know this blog was much different than my upbeat recap posts, but I want to keep it real with you all. Any words of encouragement you have, if you’ve been through a similar situation, would be so comforting to hear! My life kind of looks like this overcrowded pot of wildflowers right now 😆 I’ve never been able to relate more to anything.
Saturday night must have been my low point. I cried for a good hour with Grumples cuddled up on my lap because I hate that his birthday is coming up, and the thought of him getting older just destroys me. You all know that he’s been my rock through my darkest years, and he’s been my sidekick through everything. He’s slowing down a bit, and my heart feels like it’s being stabbed every time I see it. It’s safe to say my hormones may have been a bit out of control from the stress this past week. I need a good mental health check.
I hope you have a GREAT week, and I’ll make sure to keep you all updated on social media with the move and everything! Follow me on my main account and my home account! I’ll try to squeeze in another blog post this week as well! xo
Questions for you!
- Tell me something positive about your week!
- Have you watched any good movies lately?
- Do you want me to film an empty home tour or wait until it’s furnished?

The best thing about my week was going out for a Thai dinner with my fiance! We’re not under lockdown here in Hong Kong, so! 🙂 Great post! Have a great week, Taralynn! ❤️✨

You got this girl! Moving can be super stressful but following you, it’s all coming together and will work out beautifully in the end. Something positive… I took the leap and bought my own domain! I’ve wanted to do this for years and I was so scared. I finally did it lol. As for the movie, you need to watch Onward. It was so good!! My fiance thought he wasn’t going to like it and for the last two days he just keeps talking about how good it was. And I think wait until it’s furnished. People are probably going to want to see both and since moving is always a busy task, it might be less stressful on you to wait.
Happy Monday girl! Fingers crossed this is a smooth week for you.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Cassandra!
♥️ That is so amazing! Congrats on that big step.
I’VE HEARD IT’S SO GOOD! I’ll add that to my list 😊
♥️

This week is the last full week with my current roommate which is a positive for me 😅😅
I watched What/If on Netflix a month or two ago that I thought was good.. but I haven’t really been watching much TV recently and have been working on stuff around the apartment instead which has been a nice break.
You should film both 😄 and an updated how-to/packing tips and tricks! The next time I move I will have been in my apartment for quite a few years and know I will have significantly more stuff when it comes to my next move.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Jennifer!
Hahaha woo!! Congrats on that.
I will for sure do a moving/packing blog this time around! Pinterest has helped a ton!
Lauren says
Hi Taralynn,
I’m sorry you are going through so much stress but think of how great the end result will be! You can get through this – they say moving and a new home is one of the biggest life stressors you can go through!
I would love to see a video of the house empty and then one furnished! 🙂
Good luck!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Lauren!
I think you’re right. I figured it would be so easy with how the first house went, but this one is much different. I was warned though 😂
Thanks so much!
Chandler says
Taralynn! I’m so sorry to hear about all the stress involved in your move. I’ve never built a house, but my husband and I bought a brand new house last year and we had to do a blue tape walkthrough as well. It was an incredibly stressful day and took much longer than expected. In the end, everything worked out. The crew came back and fixed up all of the spots we weren’t happy with, and we were able to close on time. I can at least relate to that part of the stress. It’s not an easy time for certain. This too shall pass and you’ll be settled in your beautiful new home with all of the icky stress behind you. Keep your chin up and remember that God’s got this in His hands!
I’d love to see an empty home tour! I can’t wait to see the finished product! The best movie I’ve seen lately is Finding Dory. It was so cute and sweet and I just loved it. And for something positive, my husband and I took a long drive on Saturday to the family cabin just to pick something up and turned right back around and came home, but it was so nice to get out. We hadn’t left our house aside from going on walks in over a month. My husband has Crohn’s Disease and is on a medication for it so he’s immunocompromised. We’re trying to be extra safe right now 🙂
Sending love and prayers your way! <3
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you for all of that! ♥️ Glad things went well for you!
I still haven’t seen Finding Dory! I need to!! Glad you’re staying safe!

The positive thing about my week is that I received my final assignment mark on my masters degree in English literature/Creative Writing and I got what I needed to be accepted into my 2nd year 😁
Oh and I finished another jigsaw 👍
I would recommend Once upon a time in Hollywood if you’ve not seen it already and the series Babylon Berlin 😁
Wait til the house is furnished. You’re an excellent interior designer.
Taralynn McNitt says
That is so awesome! Congrats 😊
I think people either LOVE or don’t love that movie! I watched it on a plane and I had my hopes so high! I didn’t like it and have heard so many mixed reviews. I will say I didn’t mind lookin’ at Leo!! 😂
Chelsea says
Hi Taralynn!! I absolutely understand the stress you’re feeling. My boyfriend and I flip houses and I am a realtor so we live and breathe real estate. It’s SO insanely stressful and there are often 1387 hoops to jump through during the buying/selling process. The one thing I always tell myself when things are just all up in the air, is that everything always always always works out how it should. Maybe it’s not on our perfect timeline, but it’s always for our good. So, this time will most likely teach you all kinds of things that you don’t even realize you needed to know but it’ll make you stronger and wiser for the future! 🙂 Hopefully things will start to ease up for you after closing! Your new home looks like it’s going to be absolutely beautiful! <3
Something positive about my week is that I've really been soaking in the sunny weather we've been having. It's been good for my soul despite the current state of everything we're in. And, I've been running more which for me is a huge stress relief outlet.
Oh and yes, I would LOVE to see an empty home tour on your channel!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you for sharing! 💜
I’m so happy you’re getting the sunny weather!!I need to get out and start running soon! I miss it. I’ve been SO OFF my game lately.

Hi Taralynn,
I’m reminded of an old saying my nana use to say, “crying clears the eyes and the heart”. It’s a stressful time ( even more so with the pandemic). Crying (within reason!) should be looked at as a self-helping tool. Get it out and then pick yourself up!! This week for me has been uneventful, which in a strange way, I’m thankful for! One thing I’m doing to keep my spirits up while working from home is having a theme music day! Today is devoted to the ’80s!
Thanks as always for your blog posts!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you for sharing all of that, Manda! xo ♥️

Good luck with this week Taralynn! Holding thumbs for you and sending lots of positive vibes your way. We are currently in week 4 (of supposedly 5) of complete lockdown, so I haven’t left the house at all for almost a month. My dogs are going crazy and we all can’t just wait for this to be over. BUT I am loving the slower pace and extra sleep, so it hasn’t all been bad 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Shelby!
Are you all not allowed to walk your dogs where you’re at! I hope you’re staying safe! And extra sleep is always nice!

Moving is stressful! We sold our place and had to be out in 2 weeks and our new home won’t be ready for another 6 weeks…so we’re moving in with my mom and dad. The good news is at least we’ll be around family (everyone is isolating so no exposure for Covid). I hope everything goes well!
If you have Disney+, some of the Disney nature films are sweet and easy – no stress so you can just veg out and relax
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Janet and good luck on your move!
Shelby says
We’re not allowed out of our houses except to go to the shops or doctor etc. Even all the restaurants have been closed. Its been so tough but we’re getting through it. I’m also trying to count my blessings because I have more than alot of other people in South Africa. I forgot to mention Grumples has had an incredible life with you and Kyle – he is so loved and taken care of. They’re going to love their new garden! Will be thinking about you this week!
Taralynn McNitt says
Stay safe, Shelby!

What color are you painting the door and garage door? Do you have to get HOA approval? I get the whole stressed thing! “teaching” two kids in elementary school, all while working 60 plus hours! I am so over it.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi!
We are painting them black and yes we already got approvals from HOA 😊 Our neighborhood HOA is amazing here.
Hope you get some stress relief from it all soon!

Hi Taralynn,
I hope you have smooth and happy move into your new house🌼 It sounds like things are tough and with everything going on in the world it must be stressful. You both are doing so well under the pressure❤️ I’m missing normal life too when you could just go to the shop or see family without feeling guilty. Like you said it’s all just temporary and will pass, we just have to keep trying our best☺️

I am so sorry that this is turning into a nightmare process for you! My husband and I had been talking about possibly building a house but I’m realizing it may be more than we’d like to take on…thank you for keeping it real!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Kelli!
I wouldn’t rule it out just yet, but definitely do some DEEP research before making the move! We do love it, just a bit stressful at the moment! It wasn’t like this the whole time 😊

We are in the process of selling and building a house a second time after only building 3 years ago! I am hoping this new house will be our forever home! I don’t want to go through the building process again😳 Plus we have 4 kids ages 5months-8yrs so I know how you are feeling! Stress is a crazy thing but you just have to keep thinking of the outcome and that it will all be worth it! Deep breaths…
Taralynn McNitt says
I don’t know how you’re doing it with 4 kiddos! You must be supermom ♥️
Sharls says
Hi Tara, I want you to know that you’re not the only one crying over your dogs. A few weeks ago I asked my husband to play the Tarzan song, grabbed my little 11 year old dog (who we’ve only had since 2017, and had s rough life before us), and sand to him, petted him, and cried my guts out. The husband said this is the ugliest cry I’ve ever had…. and he realized that pregnancy hormones are a real thing.
Sometimes we just need to cry it out. But I like to always remember that even though the little guy is getting older, I am doing my best to give him his best life.
Good luck with the new house. Stay positive and strong.
Taralynn McNitt says
You’re definitely not alone. I gave Kyle the ugly cries too! I’m not pregnant, just hormonal 😂
♥️ thank you for the sweet words.
Madeline says
I’m so sorry you’re feeling stressed about the move, house build, and your baby Grumples (all during a pandemic). It’s all normal, but still so hard. I have those feelings pop up when we were planning our wedding, buying/moving into our house and now that we’re pregnant. I also get stressed and anxious. I can’t prevent it, but having personal techniques and support from my husband really help. I know you have the same. I’ll be thinking of your during this exciting, wonderful, and stressful time!
Tell me something positive about your week! TBD… just kidding. We got to hear our baby’s heartbeat <3
Have you watched any good movies lately? No, we've been sticking to TV shows. Loving Little Fires Everywhere and High Fidelity
Do you want me to film an empty home tour or wait until it’s furnished? Both? haha I'll absorb any and all content you share with us!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you, Madeline!
What an exciting time for you! I bet that was such an incredible and special moment.
omg, Little Fires Everywhere is so GOOOOOOOD.
Ashton says
Would you be willing to film both? I think it would be awesome to see the house empty and then how you decorate it with your own style! I was off this weekend and baked bread, and got to grill outside so that was wonderful! but am back to work Monday-Thursday this week so i have that, plus its supposed to be 87 degrees this weekend here in California. I just wisht the beach was open so I could enjoy it. Can’t wait to see your new home, good luck with the move, I hope everything goes smoothly. Are you bringing your current fridge to maybe put in the garage for food storage?
Taralynn McNitt says
I can film both!:) Would be cool to compare it after the projects!
Sounds like you’re having a good week!
No, we are keeping the fridge in our house for the new owner 🙂
Charlie says
Hi Taralynn,
I”l be thinking of you this week, I moved house a month ago just before we were locked down in the UK and my anxiety levels were through the roof – then all the work we had planned got cancelled which was a bummer but these things happen and I just keep telling myself I am so blessed to be in a position to own my own house and everything will come together in the end.
I can also relate to your thoughts on Grumples, my pooch turned 12 (woohoo!) on April 1st and I am just grateful for every day I see his little tail wagging!
As for your questions 1) I had a great week of running which hasn’t happened in ages and it felt really good! 2) Disney plus just launched here so I’m binging that (to distract me from the literal holes in the walls 3) Do an empty and finished!!
Much love!
Taralynn McNitt says
Wow! 12 💜 What a long and amazing life.
I hope you’re settling well into your new home!
Nice job on the run! i need to get back to it!
Jenny says
Taralynn-
Moving is THE worst. We moved twice last year. And a new house, whether its new build or existing home is always stressful because things arent right when you get into it. Things weren’t right on this place 1 hour before we moved in/closed on it and I was so upset. But you know what, it seemed like a big deal and it was a 2 month struggle to get everything ok (lots of followup appointments, construction guys working, delivery men delivering and then cancelling and redelivering– nightmare at times but NOT ALL THE TIME) but truthfully, looking back now, it wasn’t a big deal, everything is as it should be within a month or two after getting in, and you will handle it. That’s just….part of closing on a new house.
Now, our pup is 10 and last year when we were moving it stressed us out and I think, no, I know, it stressed him out too. I almost didn’t move at all because I didn’t want him that upset at his age. And I felt like I was watching him deteriorate before my eyes after our first move because he was a hot mess, and it freaked us out. And I thought, oh lord, seriously, I cannot move homes and lose my dog in the same year. This is too much. We figured out how to help my pup through the transition – some meds from his vet and some anxiolytics recommended by a vet friend helped- but also patience and some old familiars from puppyhood in his new environment (crate, blanket, bed) really helped all of us a settle into a new normal here. It’s getting MORE familiar here and he has found new things he loves about our new house that he hasnt had in his life in years and that makes us happy. I still remember and feel the stress of the moves last year so theyre very fresh. The dog’s mental and physical health was a huge piece of that.
But, alas, do not stress. Imperfect house things will get fixed, even though I understand the stress of wanting everything perfect and as you envisioned, at move in. And you will spend time settling into your new house, changing things you didn’t even expect to change, and living with stuff you knew you would need to change SOON because once you move in its not a big deal and you don’t even care. Most important thing is that you close and get all the ones you love in there and know that its a beautiful house- a really beautiful home, and its going to be the perfect home for all of you.
Schedule some takeout you love for the WEEKS ahead. Moving is physically and emotionally exhausting (even when you pay for people to do the stuff you think would be most tiring like paying for movers) and thats why everyone who does it declares I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. But then we all forget how painful it was (or something in our current living situation makes it more painful to stay) and we do it again lol.
You will get through this. Your pups are gonna LOVE their new trails and their big backyard outside. G is gonna feel like a puppy again in some ways. My pup does now sleep more than he used to and I think he’s sad that he can’t do some things here he did at his old house- but we put his needs in mind when we moved and bought this (we are THOSE people) and I just know you guys did too and you’ll find the dog will adjust and you guys will resume some normalcy. Have you taken him into the vet for a checkup? That was helpful- getting some professional perspective on his age and wellness- and some meds, during all of this.
You’ll get through this ok- we are praying for you. Hang in there.
J

Part 2 of my comment LOL
The best part of my week was a relaxing weekend at home with my husband and pup reading, napping and enjoying several bottles of red wine together!
We watched a lot of disney movies in the last few weeks- not even cartoons- but their nature films and McFarland USA. They’re super uplifting right now and keep us hopeful that things will get better.
I think you should film an empty house tour and take your time furnishing it! I cannot wait to see what you with it. The snaps and short videos so far look beautiful. I’m realllllllllly tempted to see what you do with the outside over time. It’s going to be a beautiful home- stay strong!

Thank you!!! 😊 Disney movies are always a grat go-to

I’m sorry to hear that you’re so overwhelmed right now. Moving is so stressful, which doesn’t help with everything else going on. I hope you know how great you are and this will pass soon.
I get it with Grumples, my parents live across the country so I only see them every few years. The animals are all now between 9-13 and it’s really sad to think about. I hope I get to see them soon! 5 years ago one of my cats had to be put down and it is still one of the worst days of my life. This morning Facebook memories showed me a photo of him and my heart still bursts with love each time I see a photo of him. Animals are the greatest gift ❤

Awh, my pup turns nine this year so I understand and relate to the pup breakdown. I’ve been spending the week deep cleaning and purging tons of my stuff! It’s been so nice and refreshing to clear everything out.
We’ve been picking movies at random. The latest one was Shrek but before that we watched Burlesque.
I think it would be interesting to see a comparison of the empty house versus the decorated house. It always looks so different!
I hope the move-in process goes smoother for you!
Taralynn McNitt says
It’s the worst, but it was my first time letting it sink in and i just lost it. Now, I just know i need to spend every minute making his life the best life ever. I can’t wait for him to get the new backyard. ♥️
I haven’t seen Shrek in so long!
A comparison would be so cool!
Courtney says
Hi Taralynn!
I hope your week turns around. It’s such a stressful time in general and I can’t imagine having to move right now (especially into a new build…more about that below)!
1) I have been able to find a few positives this week! I work in the hospital so am fairly tired and stressed on a day-to-day basis because of Covid, so I’m trying to practice gratitude and be positive-focused! I have been finding time to read almost every day, which I have put on the back burner for a while. I love reading but sometimes go through periods where I feel I don’t have time (or don’t make time). I also signed up for a library card and downloaded some audiobooks to listen to on my long walks. I have been listening to a great gardening podcast on my hour-long walks, but have started to run out of episodes so I’m looking forward to giving audiobooks a try. I also have video chatted with my two best friends that live across the country, my parents (who also live across the country), and my in-laws. It was nice to connect with everyone because social distancing can be lonely!
2) I watched Long Shot a few months ago and it was hilarious! I am also on the hunt for movies to watch so I’ll have to scope out everyone’s answers!
3) I’d love an empty tour! It would be neat to see how it looks before and after you move in!
We built a condo unit where we used to live and did quite a few custom upgrades. The builders were well known in our area but clearly there was a delay in communication with some of the contractors. The builders put in the wrong flooring and had to tear it all out and put the upgrades flooring that we ordered in. The evening we went to do our walk through was the night before we were scheduled to move in. When we showed up for the final walk through, it was TOTALLY not even close for us to be able move in. The counter was half installed, only one toilet was installed, the mirrors and towel racks were not up, a few appliances were not installed, there were some paint touch ups that needed to be fixed, and the condo was needing it’s final clean. This was AFTER the company had already pushed our move-in date back by 2 weeks. We were supposed to move in at noon the next day. We rented in the same building but needed to be out by noon, so we had to move all of our stuff into the hallway the next day. The builder and realtor we used knew someone who had an empty rental in our building, so we had to move into it temporarily for about 2 weeks (without wifi and I often worked from home). The unit was also half the size of what we needed so I was living out of boxes for that time. Thankfully every thing got fixed and our unit was exactly what we wanted – but I can certainly say it was not a smooth process. It was an interesting experience and has definitely made me think twice about whether I would do a new build in the future. I haven’t ruled it out but I would have to meet a builder I am comfortable with and be very clear about my expectations up front.
It will all be worth it in the end! Soon you will have a lovely house with a yard for your dogs and room for gardening! Just know you are not alone in feeling stressed and anxious (about the house and Covid)!
Taralynn McNitt says
Wow that sounds like an absolute nightmare situation!!! I can relate to feeling that way! Hope everything is well now!

I hope your stress levels ease up this week, before you know it you, Kyle and the dogs will be settled into your new home, and you will be out in your garden. I know the heartbreaking feeling of dogs slowing down, my girl Mia is still holding on and she still has a smile on her face every day, I am hoping she makes her 9th birthday on July 16th🤞🏻it would make my world if she does. We watched JoJo Rabbet over the weekend and its such a good movie, we absolutely loved it. The most positive this of my week was walking 7km each day, I feel incredible and my mind feels so clear considering everything that’s going on in the world and getting work calls every hour or so.
Please do a tour when its furnished and your moved in and settled. I hope you have a better week this week.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Harriet! ♥️
Prayers to sweet Mia! July 16th is Grumples ninth birthday too.

Love that you’re always staying busy with cool projects and long nature walks! xo

So sorry to hear that what should be an exciting time has become so stressful. When I get overwhelmed it’s difficult not to just shut down,so I try to focus on just the tiniest next step to move things forward. It’s so easy to think of everything that needs to happen and everything that could possibly go wrong and tie yourself up in knots with it, but everything will work out in the end. Things will be fixed and your home will become exactly what you want it to be all in good time. Try to remind yourself that it will all be worth it at the end of the process.
A positive thing about my week was making bread from scratch without a bread maker.
We watched the Trolls World Tour movie with the kids at the weekend which was quite uplifting overall 😊 Onward is also a great movie we’ve seen recently.
I would love to see an empty home tour and then a furnished home tour later. I love seeing what spaces look like before they’re filled and how people choose to fill them.
Hope you have a great week and everything goes smoothly for the move. Take care and stay safe ❤
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Nicci! ♥️
Wow! That is amazing. My mom has been making a ton of homemade bread.
I have onward on my list 😊
Hope you also have a great week.

Hi Taralynn!
I’m sorry to hear about your anxiety this week but I think it’s completely fine considering the situation. We have right to feel bad and I also blame my hormones a lot 🙂 Don’t be too hard to yourself, if you need to cry, just cry, it will help for sure 😉
It breaks my heart to read about how you cried with Grumples but I understand you so much! When I was younger I had a dog for 11 years and the day she died I was abroad so it was the hardest moment of my life. But I am sure that Grumples will have a loooong and amazing life!
Something positive about my week is that yesterday I spent one hour talking to my best friend and I feel much better today. Even if we can’t see each other, just the fact that she’s there and I can hear her voice.. it helps a lot! Maybe a FaceTime with Becca will make you feel a little better as well?
I haven’t seen any good movie lately but my boyfriend and I are watching Homeland serie and it’s sooo good!
I would like to see your new home both empty and furnished 🙂
I send you a big hug from Barcelona and I cross my fingers for your moving day! I will think of you <3

Best of luck with moving!! We moved into our current house about a year and a half ago at this point, but I still remember the stress like it was yesterday. Just remember that everything will work out however the universe has planned it.
Would love to see a house tour before furnishing and then again after! Stay healthy and stay safe 🙂

Best of luck with your move! I moved into a new build in late September. I completely understand the walk-through taking a while and things not feeling done. The same thing happened with me and it seemed like the world was ending! Now that we’ve been here for 6 months, I barely remember what it feels like and just talk about how much I love my home every day. ❤️ It will all work out and I LOVE following your story because your house is beautiful! There may be a few bumps along the way but you will have your dream home!
Also I’d love an empty house tour and then to see it furnished. It looks amazing and I can’t wait to see it!

Thank you, Erica! ❤️

Hey Taralynn! Sorry to hear you’ve had a stressful week, it’s bad enough with what’s going on in the world at the moment so I can’t imagine what it must be like trying to move at a time like this x
I’ve been following your blog for a few years now and I really love it, your posts always make me smile! 😊
Me and my fiance have been watching all the Marvel movies in chronological order whilst we’re in lockdown here in the U.K. once we’ve finished the Marvel movies, we’re going to re-watch all the Harry Potter films too!
Hope you have a better week this week and stay safe x
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks, Bethany!
♥️ I’ve never seen the Harry Potter films, but will definitely do that when I get settled into the new house. It’s on my list!!

I cannot wait to see your new home.. I think you should film an empty house tour and then another once it’s furnished 🙂 A good movie I recently watched was the remake of Overboard – it’s on Hulu. Hope you are staying safe and healthy love. Cheers to a new week and being positive!

I completely understand the stress from the virus has done a number on me so I can’t imagine adding a move on top of that. Good luck
I recently watched underwater that was not bad and Lost Girls on Netflix.
I would love a before and after vlog I just can’t wait to see the house

Your feelings are completely valid and normal! I can’t imagine how stressful it must being trying to move during this pandemic. We bought our first condo last April and had a million little errands and hardware store runs days leading up to the move, day of, and days after the move. Must be even trickier with the added stress of cleanliness and line restrictions.
I’m from the northeast so any type of sun/warmth and the ability to get outside for fresh air during quarantine is a highlight. Sunday was beautiful and my husband and I checked off some house projects that have been on our to-do list since we moved in. We also planted some flowers in planters for our front stoop to brighten up the entryway.
As for movies, Knives Out is a great murder mystery we watched recently that was surprisingly funny and entertaining. Good date night flick.
Slow down, take deep breaths, and hang in there! This week will fly by and you’ll be in your new beautiful home you both worked so hard for before you know it.

Hi, Alexandra!
Thank you for that! xo ♥️
I agree with you. I don’t know what it would be like if we were experiencing this in winter! The warm and nice weather is everything!
Appreciate your sweet words.

Good luck with the move!! You’ve got this! Can’t wait to see the finished house. It’s been fun to watch the progress (I’m sure it’s been more stressful than it looked!)

Thanks, Kristin!

I close on my new house on Monday, but I’m moving to a different state and won’t be able to get there until Wednesday next week. Moving during this time is so stressful!!!!! Knowing that it will be worth it when everything gets settled down helps me relax a little bit. I think you should do a walk through before its furnished and also once you’re done. I can’t wait to see how everything turned out!
Taralynn McNitt says
Good luck with your move, Rachel!! & thanks for the sweet words!!

It has been forever since I’ve commented, but I’ve kept reading your weekly posts the whole time! I
I’m so excited for you for your new house. We completed our new build last December and I completely understand the stress before the move and having the house complete. Our house ended up being not even close to done but they pushed to close so we delayed our move in by two weeks and let the contractors finish the work. The contractors later told me how much they appreciated us letting them have more time to finish the work right when the company they worked for (our builder) wouldn’t give it to them. I like to think we have a better house for it!
This week I finally started working part time instead of my usual 40 hours a week because I am 8 months pregnant! The couple extra hours away from work have really helped me to slow down, do more yoga and read books for fun!
I haven’t watched any movies but I just started Grace and Frankie on Netflix with my mom and we love it!
I love all of your home updates! My vote is for all the pictures! I did construction, empty and furnished pictures of each room and will eventually (aka hopefully soon) put them into a photo book for us to have for our first house!
Good luck with closing and moving!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Carly!
Hope you’re doing well 😊
So nice you were able to push the closing, I agree that your house is probably better for it for sure!! I wish we had that option, but it looks like they’ve been working hard this week to get things done.
Congrats on your pregnancy!! HOW EXCITING!!! 💜 What an incredible time for you.
