Happy March!
Less than 20 days until the official start of Spring, although it sure felt like spring the past few days. 🌸 I hope you all had a relaxing weekend and did something fun to celebrate leap day. Saturday was a fun day, but Kyle got sick Sunday morning, Leo was sick in the middle of the night, and it’s been a little hectic around here! Let’s just get started with this recap, and I’ll catch you up on all of it.
I didn’t have my headstart this morning. I’m usually out of bed by six and already on the couch blogging with coffee and two walked dogs before 7 am. I decided to sleep on the couch last night since Kyle was so sick. I didn’t want to put myself close enough to catch whatever he has. After sleeping on the most comfortable bed in the world (yes, still LOVE my Leesa) I forgot how awful couch sleeping was. And to top it off, I heard Leo getting sick from the top of the stairs all the way to the bottom. It was around 3:30, so I hurried and cleaned everything up, and then took him out for a walk just in case he needed to, well, you know.
Luckily, he woke up this morning feeling fine, and was acting normal on the walk and ate his food just as fast as he does every morning. But after I hit publish on this recap, I’m heading to CVS to pick up a few things for the sick men in this house.
On Thursday (I’ll go back to the full weekend-recap posts in the spring!), I cleaned and staged the entire house for the listing photos. I’ll share all the photos from that in a few weeks since I’ve never done a house tour. I was pretty happy with how they turned out, but it was WORK 😂
For my breakfast, I had my avocado toast on gluten-free bread, an over-medium egg, and plum with honey. After finishing up the house project, I had a frozen raspberry smoothie! I used unsweetened cashew milk, frozen raspberries, and chocolate Orgain protein powder. This was the first smoothie I’ve had in a long time, and it was delicious! I ended up having multiples of these throughout the week.
For dinner, I made roasted cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and mixed it in with my enchilada and chicken rice from the night before. I’m officially back on that cauliflower kick.
After dinner, I made MY FAVORITE oatmeal cream pie recipe. I always use the bob’s red mill gluten-free flour and earth balance butter to make them gluten & dairy-free, and you can’t even tell the difference. I made them for Kyle to bring into work, and they were a big hit 😊 These are my go-to recipe for impressing anyone! You can find the recipe here.
On Friday morning, I had my last avocado (refusing to buy more so I can force myself to eat something different 😆) with my gluten-free toast and some fresh fruit with honey. Friday night was so relaxing. We made chicken wings and salad and then watched our show. I was so tired on Friday that I was counting down the minutes until I could crawl into bed. And of course, once I got into bed, I got hooked on a dateline and didn’t get to sleep until way later.
We met with a contractor on Saturday morning to get some quotes for some future projects we want to be done once we move in. We love the look for the industrial black wrought iron glass doors, so we are looking to get a few of them on the closets, my office door, and a large one into the loft. We are also getting a quote to change the stair railings. We aren’t set on changing them because I kind of like the traditional railings right now, but we are getting a quote just in case.
On Saturday, they finished more sanding, added a few more doors, and are continuing to put up the trim. We had our phone meeting this morning and we were told that the tile would be installed this week, the countertops have been ordered, and the paint will be completed by Saturday. I can’t wait to recheck the house this weekend.
I just shared my ideas for what we’ll do with these french doors and what we are doing with this room on my home-build Instagram account. Most people use this room for an office, but we are going to make it our piano and reading room. I can’t wait to add the bold colors and warmth to this room!
It’s also a tradition to bring the new contractors donuts on the weekends! 😃 🍩
We headed to Spice for a late-lunch Saturday afternoon, and it was delicious! I love all the new businesses coming to Fort Mill!
I ordered the salmon salad and the vegan spring rolls. I can’t wait to go back when I’m super hungry and order their pad thai! 😋
After lunch, we headed to the movie theater to see The Invisible Man. It was a 10/10, and you HAVE to see it! Sometimes movies like that can be a real let down, but not this one.
I had to share this necklace. My brother’s girlfriend got me for my birthday! It has the date Kyle and I got engaged on it 😊 So so so so sweet of her!
I spent Saturday morning putting together the photos for our realtor and then met up with Becca uptown for a project we’ve been working on. We had some extra time and decided to split some delicious fries from Be Good. French fries are never a bad idea. 😊
FINALLY FEELING LIKE SPRING! 😊
We finished up around 5 pm, headed to Whole Foods, and then headed back home!
I picked up sparkling water at Caribou and had my Vanilla Almond RXBAR on my way home. It’s the new flavor they sent me, and IT’S SO GOOD!!! They keep crushing it with these new flavors.
For dinner, I had cauliflower pizza and brussels sprouts 😋
Well, it’s time for me to run to CVS to help take care of Kyle! 😞 poor guy! I hope you all have the BEST week!!!
Questions for you!
- Did you have spring weather this weekend?
- What is the last movie you went to see?
- Did you do anything to celebrate leap day?
also—- if you watch The Bachelor! TALK BACHELOR with me!! Let me know who you want to win or your ending theories!!
Chandler says
We didn’t have super springy weather because I live in MN lol. But it’s definitely warming up here! I last saw Little Women in theaters and HIGHLY recommend it. I’m scared to see The Invisible Man, but I kind of want to! How scary was it? I don’t have a super high tolerance, but I do like suspense. Leap Day was an incredibly chill day for us which was nice 🙂 Your new house is going to be beautiful and I can’t wait to see it all! Also, I am 100% team Madison for The Bachelor!!! But I’d be okay with Hannah Ann too. I can’t imagine a world where Victoria F wins though. Yikes. Happy Monday to you!
Taralynn McNitt says
Yay for the “warmer” weather 😊
I don’t like horror films when it comes to scary things, but I LOVE a good thriller/suspense, and so it wasn’t too bad! It’s definitely my type of movie!
Thank you 😊 I can’t wait to move in!
I love her too, but NOT for Peter. She needs someone who has her beliefs and who is on her level. She’s so sure of herself in a good way and I think she needs someone who shares that faith with her.
I have NO IDEA why he likes unstableness…cough cough victoria. I think Hannah Ann and him align the best!
Chandler says
YES! Agreed. I think he should choose Hannah Ann, although Madison is my fave 🙂 She’s just the cutest. Hopefully he and Hannah Ann end up together!
Taralynn McNitt says
Yes to that!
Patricia says
I’ve been so intrigued by the Invisible Man trailers! Your review sealed the deal…I’m going to drag my husband to go see it lol. Question – have you felt any sadness or anxiety about leaving/selling your current home? We just bought a house and I have all these mixed emotions…but for some reason I’m so sentimental about my old house all of the sudden and feel really sad? I didn’t think it would be this hard!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Patricia!
YOU HAVE TO GO SEE IT! 👏
I don’t think I’ve had those feelings. We had wanted to move a while ago just because we need a yard for the dogs and I’d like to have more space to work in. I think if I had to move for a job or move when I didn’t want to, I’d be sad, but I never had that attachment over this place. I moved here for a good investment and to stop paying ridiculous rent, and now I’m so ready to move on and grow into the new house. I’ve also moved SO MANY times throughout my childhood with my dad being in the military so I have gotten used to it. But there’s nothing wrong with feeling an attachment to a place and I hope I feel the same way about this new house! Just think of all the new chapters you get to create in your new house 😊
Kim says
Oh my goodness everyone in our house is sick right now too! 🙁
We didn’t have any spring weather. It was 30’s all weekend and rainy in PA. For leap day, my boyfriend and I used some of my Hilton points to get a free room in Philly for the night! We literally did it just so that we can go swimming in their indoor pool all night since it’s too cold to swim literally anywhere outside haha.plus free breakfast is always a good idea 😀
It has been literally months (maybe a year?) since I’ve been gone to see a movie, but Thursday we’re going to see Onward!
Also.. side note lol. I’ve also been using the Everything but the Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s and it’s amazing! Did you see they now have Everything but the Elote seasoning!? It’s the same seasonings they put on mexican street corn and it makes everything taste so good!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Kim!
Crazy sickness going around for sure!
Sounds like the perfect Leap Day & I love a good staycation!!
UMMMMM WUUT?! OK, I HAVE TO GO GET THAT SEASONING!
Ellen says
I’m loving all this warmer weather! I’m in the arm pit of South carolina (columbia) so I still am enjoying the cool while I can! It gets so hot here!
And for the bachelor… I think peter needs to take a break, he reminds me of a 13 year old boy around all the girls! lol I love Madison though, she just seems to good for him. Love the recap and good luck with the new house!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Ellen!
It’s crazy, I live about 50-minutes away from Columbia, but it’s always 10 degrees hotter and more humid there! lol
HAHAHA SAME…that is just so spot on. Madison got on the wrong show!
Lauren says
I feel like there have been no good movies out lately! we have a gift card, but nothing sounds good! 🙁
I know this sounds so bad but my husband and i decided calories didn’t count on the leap day so we literally ate all our favorite – not so good for you – food! It was well worth it but i don’t think i need to do that again for 4 more years haha
I have no clue what is going to happen on the Bachelor! this is the first time i have never seen any spoilers or anything! It is driving me CRAZY! Love that the new bachelorette is 38 though, finally no more children who are just trying to be instafamous!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Lauren!
We’ve felt like that about movies lately too but were so excited when The Invisible Man came out!
Um, that’s kind of a GENIUS thing. I’m stealing that for next leap year! 😂
I have been avoiding all the spoilers, too!! OMG YES!! I’m so happy for Claire!! I kind of wish they would have chosen Andi again 😂
Alissa @ PositiviTEA says
I’m living for the early spring weather! My wife and I have made a collective choice to get outside whenever possible for a workout, so we’ve been rushing to do so as much as possible after work! Also, your recipes alwayssss make me drool through the screen!
Weather in NJ has been back and forth, but this past weekend was cold! I’m talking highs of 30ish. Today? 63!
The last movie we saw (in theaters) was Rise of Skywalker! I liked it, but still enjoy the originals best.
Nope, no specific Leap Day celebrations here! Just some time with friends who we haven’t seen in a bit!
Happy Monday!
Taralynn McNitt says
Awww thanks, girl!
Glad you are getting outside to enjoy the weather!!
WOW 63 in NJ? That’s nicer than it is here!
Have a great week and I hope it stays sunny for you!!
Peggy says
Have you seen Plus One?? Loved it! Was in Vegas for leap day, beautiful weather!
Taralynn McNitt says
Not a bad way to spend Leap Day!!!
I havn’t seen that yet!
Juhi Khemani says
I am always here to talk Bachelor and I like that in addition to weekly recaps about food and lifestyle, you always include a note about it! I think Madison leaves herself, Victoria is cut at the next rose ceremony today and HA is the one left. BUT then I think Madison comes back and he has to break it to HA that Madison is who he wants to be with. But I bet they haven’t filmed him asking her to marry him/get back together so something has yet to be aired live next week!
Lots of conjecture! I’m stoked for a Claire season too and I think she’ll be excellent.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Juhi!
So happy you’re here to talk Bachelor to me! 😊
OK…absolutely agree with your theory!!! You’re good…
I agree! Finally, someone who is older than 25!!

How exciting!!!
Milena says
Hi Taralynn!
First of all, I love your jeans! They are so… spring 🙂
I did have spring weather this past weekend, but since yesterday it’s been very cloudy and the temperature went down in Barcelona 🙁 I hope it’s gonna change soon! This weekend I am going to Copenhague and the weather prediction says it’s gonna be reallyyyyy cold. I am very excited for that trip, I will just have to pack a lot of warm clothes eh 😀
The last time my boyfriend and I went to the movies was for a Spanish comedy and it was really good 🙂 The next time we want to see is Onward!
Have a great day, big hug ! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Milena!
Thanks so much! 😊
We had the same weather tease too! Rainy all week and cloudy 😔
So many people said they are going to see Onward! Hope you enjoy!!
xoxoxo
Hayley says
Until today, it’s been super cold in Ohio but we’re finally getting into the warm spring weather and I am SO excited about it!
The last two movies I went and saw were the best and made it into my top 5 favorite movies of all time (which is always exciting!) – Little Women and Peanut Butter Falcon. Really recommend both of them!
Taralynn McNitt says
Yay! Hoping the midwest gets the heat it deserves after this winter!
I’ll have to watch both! Heard good things about Little Women!
Harriet says
Great recap, they are moving so fast with your build, you will be moving in before you know it. I have a client who has just broken ground to start building after a three year battle with the council. we got a taste of autumn weather this weekend, with foggy / misty mornings was such a nice change from having 32* degrees and above for the last month. the last movie I saw was Hustlers, it was okay. thinking of going to see the invisible man movie this weekend.
Does food prepping count for celebrating leap day? I prepped 48 meals as I am going to do another Whole 30 later this month. Hope Kyle feels better soon. Have a great week!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi, Harriet!
Yes, we are so thrilled! Only 50 days left! 😊
Wow, 3 years? Good for her for hanging in there so long!
Ohhhh fall coming your way 😊 The perfect excuse to go to the movies! Please let me know what you think of Invisible Man!!
Love all of your productivity! Such a go-getter!
😊
Chelsea says
Invisible Man was SO good!!! Loved it!
Also, your new house looks like it’s coming together so well!! It looks like it’s going to be so pretty with so much natural light.
I’m loving the spring weather lately here in Arkansas, even though we totally skipped winter and didn’t get ANY snow this year! But, bring on the warmer sunny days because they’re my favorite! 🙂
Have a great week!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Wasn’t it!! 😆
Thank so much! I cannot wait to get in there!!!
We didn’t have any snow stick this year but two little episodes! I just want summer more than snow this year! lol
Have an amazing week!
